The Worst Time in History to Start a Travel Business for Seniors
Will start-up travel businesses survive?
So THAT happened!
Our brand-new (travel-oriented) start-up business had just launched here in Tallahassee in February of this year and, well…you know what happened next.
Don’t give up on us yet. While the travel industry is “on pause,” we’ll be working hard to bring you an even better product to serve our community, our seniors, and our civic duty personnel when travel opens up again.
Are Airline Pilots going to get laid off?
As an airline pilot, I know this turbulence is temporary. As a registered nurse, I’m proud of Tallahassee for it’s compliance to public policy and CDC guidelines. I’m grateful to live in such a terrific town.
Tallahassee Travel Companions Trip Trustees Facing Multiple Challenges Caused By COVID-19 Restrictions
Tallahassee, FL – TripTrustees, a Florida-based startup that matches seniors with local, trusted Travel Assistants, is working hard to help clients during the ongoing pandemic.
The newly formed company specializes in helping seniors travel worldwide, by providing a unique travel assistance service. Unfortunately, their business model has been decimated with the current restrictions because their target market of seniors have been advised not to leave their homes, and the travel industry is virtually closed for business across the world.
Are seniors going to travel anymore?
“When we initially came up with the concept of the business, we were convinced that it was original, innovative, and would appeal to a large proportion of the community who wanted to enjoy traveling but also have the safety, security, and companionship of a seasoned Travel Assistant,” said Gino Fina, founder of TripTrustees. But even the best planner in the world could never have anticipated the two main aspects of their business being effectively stopped in their tracks. TripTrustees Travel Assistants are sourced from just a handful of trusted, public service occupations such as:
- registered nurses
- law enforcement officers
- retired military officers
- flight attendants
Given the current environment, these professions are extremely taxed and may not have the needed off-duty time to serve as a travel companion for seniors in need.
One of the golden rules for any business is to plan ahead for any and every eventuality, but all of the planning in the world could not have foreseen the devastation the COVID-19 epidemic would dish out to certain industries, especially travel and tourism.
What happens after the Coronavirus is under control?
“Rather than dwell on the predicament we find ourselves in, we are focusing all of our efforts on getting our current travelers back home safely and devising new marketing promotions and strategies for when the restrictions finally lift. We are in a solid financial situation and are confident that the market will bounce back relatively quickly once life returns to normal,” said Fina.
